Flora BLOOMS in Annandale

An expert's eye that instantly recognises colour, form and composition has resulted in an exhibition that will delight. Peter Norton is the creator of this extraordinary exhibition of photographs of exotic flora, BLOOM - the culmination of 12 months work.

Finally the exhibition will be opened at Peter and his designer wife, Kylie’s stunning converted warehouse in Annandale, on Wednesday, October 22, by another Aussie icon who knows all about colour, Ken Done.

BLOOM, has been quite a journey for our artist, a former highly successful fashion leader with the creation of his self-named label, Peter Norton. During his fashion career, Peter won seven FIA (Fashion Industry Awards) for best design, culminating in his admission into the prestigious Fashion Hall of Fame.

After 25 years in the industry, Peter sold his burgeoning company and went back to his first love - photography. The results of this passion, combined with Peter's innate sense of style, love of colour and inventive use of lighting, plus an imaginative and revolutionary printing processes is, BLOOM.

"Photography was always my first love. I am an avid traveller and I have found inspiration for my work throughout Australia, South East Asia and further afield, in South America and Antarctica. It gives me enormous pleasure to present this collection of work", Peter says.

Peter's unique photographic work was given a new dimension with the recent investment in a large format printer capable of printing images on to canvas and fine art papers. The canvas, similar to normal artist’s canvas, is treated with a special coating for pigment inks, with waterproof and UV protection. This, coupled with a 7-colour ink system, ensures top quality reproduction with an archivability of up to 100 years.

For Bloom, images are also printed onto a fine art paper, mounted in box frames. This art paper comes from one of the oldest paper mills in Europe, who have been manufacturing since 1584 and are synonymous with quality when it comes to original mould made and water colour papers. Peter and Kylie now produce everything in-house, from concept and photography, through to the actual printing of the images themselves.

Peter's first exhibition featuring his exquisite macro images of exotic flora are all available and very affordable ranging from $250 to $2,500 (inclusive of GST), all images are a limited edition of 10 images in each size.

Following the opening of the exhibition the website will be launched allowing you to view and buy these works, at www.peternorton.com.au.
